Computational Determination of Human Beauty Through Face Recognition Algorithms and Geometrical Analysis

Each individual has different perception of what beautiful is and everybody wants to be called beautiful. Nowadays, if someone thinks she is ugly it is not a problem as long as she has money. Everyday, the numbers of individuals who have plastic or cosmetic surgeries are increasing and it is well accepted by the society. In fact, teenagers were enumerable than adults. According to the ASPS, over 333,000 people 18 years and younger had plastic surgery in 2005, up from about 306,000 in 2000. (http://www.kidshealth.org)

There are different ways how to judge a person’s beauty. Some will look at the physical attributes of a person while others look on the personality. But surgeons like Dr. Sherrell J. Aston, professor of surgery at New York University believed that a beautiful face is symmetrical, proportional and harmonious. (http://abcnews.go.com)

This research is about integrating facial recognition technology in identifying whether a person is beautiful or not. Humans have always had the innate ability to recognize and distinguish between faces, yet computers only recently have shown the same ability. Facial recognition began during 1964 and 1965 when Bledsoe, along with Helen Chan and Charles Bisson worked on using the computer to recognize human faces. Given a large database of images and a photograph, the problem was to select from the database a small set of records such that one of the image records matched the photograph. (www.en.wikipedia.org)

The researchers believe that it is possible to design an intelligent computer

system that can identify the areas of a person’s face which needs enhancement or

which needs correction.

What Happens When There's No More Rhyme?

Well, me and my friends just had a videoke marathon at Ellen's house a while ago and one of the song that I sang was entitled No More Rhyme. So, what will happen when there's no more rhyme? Eventually, when there's no more rhyme there's no more "kilig factor". At the beginning of a relationship, a person really tries to be compatible with his/her partner so as to jive in with his/her differences in any aspect for that matter. Oftentimes, specially when a relationship lasted for quite sometimes, the rhyme usually fades away. Now, what could be the reason for rhyme to fade? Based on my own experience, it will gradually fade when a person expected to much of his/her partner and these expectations weren't met. When a relationship lost its rhyme it will not succeed!

What A Day!

Today's the 2nd day of our prelim exams. Whoah! I'm mentally exhausted! It's really annoying that you'd study everything and the exam wasn't worth it! Some of the questions were out of the world and some of it will drive you nuts! Especially with our abstract algebra. My brain got almost brainwashed! Huhuhuh! All of the questions were BLOODY! But thanks to our cheating arrangement, I was able to get some cheated answers. Wakokok! Tomorrow will be the last day, but I think it'll be getting tougher! Good luck to us all! I'm very sleepy and tired coz i'd just went to roxas to do our project but I'll try to scan my notes. Maybe I'll remember some of it. Oyasumi nasai!

Ready or Not?

Today's the first day of our Prelim exam. I know everybody's busy studying their previous lessons. For those who are studying alone, I bet you slept while reading you notes. For those who study with their groups, I bet you spend the whole night chatting. Nyahahaha! In other words, you didn't study at all. Well, ready or not everybody's going to take the exam unless your sick or too early for the next exam. Hahahihi! Don't worry I know your classmates already have your cheating arrangements. But that tactic won't work with problem solving and be sure you won't get caught by your teacher. Good luck! Don't forget to say a lil' prayer before you start answering.

Only Time

How many times did my heart broke this past few days? I wasn't able to count it up to its total. Bayowt! It keeps on increasing every single day! I'm so drained! I'm at my limit. Finally, I decided to cut the hurt off me! But I guess this doesn't end here. It wouldn't end until the roots were really dead down to the tips! Oh! How will I ever get over you?! When you always keep on coming back to me. I don't really know what you are up to. My senses tell me that it wasn't love that drags you back. I wish I knew! I did my best to bring you back but I guess my best wasn't good enough as a song goes. There's just one thing that I realized. We cannot escape our past, more so with our mistakes. It will echo over and over again until you learn how to tolerate it. No matter how much we regret our mistakes it won't bring back the things we already lost. To all my beloved friend's, please learn from our mistakes and try to sum up the value of the things you sacrificed to the things you wanted if its really worth it. Coz regret wasn't made to be on the first place. As of now, I'm sufferring the consequences of my own actions. I learned how to endure the pain of a broken heart from someone that I used to loved and I still loved at this moment. I am letting him go for I know it's the best thing to heal the wounds of the past. Only time will tell when this broken heart of mine mends. Only time...

Rainy Day
by: Pink Cabero

Today, i tried to keep myself busy
Just to forget you for a single moment
I thought i already did, but suddenly it rains
You don't know how much I missed you
And I wonder if you missed me too
But you know, it doesn't show
Because I'm trying hard to hide it.

Every time I hear the rain drops
It brings me back memories of our past
We were happy then,
But now what happened?
Does your love for me fade?
Does your faith on me vanished?
Why? Oh! Why?

Now, I watch the rain
As it falls down on the ground
Like teardrops falling from my eyes
I'm crying not because I hate the rain,
Like some people do
I cried, because when it rains,
It reminds me of you.

So, I guess what we had before
Will only become a memory
To me, to you, and to all people
I know that behind these black clouds
I'll find a light that will shine through me
From there, I know I'm strong enough
To cheat death everytime it rains.

DAMN!!!!

It's 4 o'clock in the morning and I had just made all 4 term papers, one for me and the rest were for my classmates because we were chasing tomorrows deadline. (Im not a kind person but I usually volunteer to do other peoples assignment when i feel they're too paranoid to do it). One thing just pissed me off! Guess what? Our teacher didn't collect it instead, she postponed the deadline to our next meeting! Damn!!! My efforts were useless!!! If I've known it on the first place I would rather sleep the whole time. But anyways, its over and gone.... Important thing is, I already made it and I don't have to make it this evening!!! Nyahahaha!!! What's the sense of my talking here???

I'm Dedicating This Song to My Ex-Boyfriend

Make It Easy On Me
by: Steps

Don't keep me dreaming
If all the hope is gone
If it's all over
Don't keep me hanging on
I can't stayAnd dream my life away
In some kind of wonderland
Better to hurt me honestly
Than make a fool of me
My heart will understand
Make it easy on meJust walk away, set me free
Don't try to do it gently
Just to please me
Make it easy, easy on me
If it's the time to go
If it's the last goodbye
Never turn around
Don't want you to see me cry
Don't make me stay
And wish my time away
In some fool's paradise
Don't give any hope to me
Spin any lines for me
Make the truth plain to see
Make it easy on meJust walk away, set me free
Don't try to do it gently
Just to please me
Make it easy, easy on me
Better to hurt me honestly
Than make a fool of me
My heart will understand

Since You Took Youe Love Away
by: Steps

Holding you so gently
I gave you room to breathe
Now all I feel is empty
Why did you have to leave
What happened to forever
Is nothing built to last
My whole world could shatter
I'm fading fast
Yeah I'm fading fast...

I need someone to save me
You don't know 'til you've been in love
I need to find a way back
And I don't know if
I'm strong enough
And though I'm longing for yesterday
I guess there's really nothing left to say
'Cos now that's just a memorysince you took your love away
since you took your love away

I'm trying to forgive you
But I'm not proud to say
That after all we've been through
It's hard to find a way
I'm trying not to hate you
For pushing me aside
But when a heart is breaking
Well it's hard to hide
Yes it's hard to hide now

HOW DO YOU HEAL A BROKEN HEART?

Mend Your Broken Heart
by: Jennifer Good

There isn't a sure-fire way to mend a broken heart but there are definitely things you can to do to make it feel a bit lighter and ready for new love. First, allow yourself to feel what you need to and take all the time in the world to get over the person. For some people it may only take a few weeks to move on and others years. However long it takes, be okay with that. The ideas below are not meant to cover up your loss but rather to help your healing process so you can move on and enjoy being single for awhile!

1. Throw a small party. The fun of letting loose and being surrounded with your close friends can make anyone feel better.

2. Gather everything that reminds you of your past love and put it in a box specifically for this. Then give it to a friend or store it somewhere where you won't see or think about it. When you're ready you can either throw away the box or keep it for memory's sake.

3. Start a new exercise or well-being plan. It never hurts to take time to look good!

4. Start a daily journal, even if it's on your computer. Somewhere everyday take the time to jot down whatever comes to mind. The idea in starting a journal is not to write cleverly or even about anything important. Just write (or type) whatever comes to mind even if your journal starts to look like this: "Went shopping yesterday for a new book oh yea need to e-mail Susan, the flowers on that window sill need watering." The point of your journal is to clear your thoughts. In a few weeks you will be able to read your entries to discover new things and trends about yourself.

5. Join a new interest group. It's never to early too meet new friends and, at least this way, you'll already have one thing in common.

6.Learn something new. Take a foreign language or art course, or buy a how-to computer program.

7. Pick out an inspirational book or movie to read or watch whenever you start feeling down or depressed.

8. Take yourself out on a date, even if it's a night alone watching your favorite programs and eating your favorite foods.

9. Do the things you said you always wanted to do when you were with your partner but somehow never did.

10. Get a new look.

11. Pick up a calendar and fill out the next 3 months with social events you'd like to attend or things you'd like to do. Browse your city's web site or the entertainment section of your local newspaper to find out ideas, dates and times.

12. Spend a "comfy" day. Get out your favorite comfy clothes, pillow, blanket, etc. and just spend the day relaxing doing whatever you want!

13. Get a pet or plant to take care of.

14. Rent a few romantic movies or read a few romance novels to remind yourself that love does still have happy endings.

15. Write a goodbye poem or letter. Then stick it in a bottle and throw it out in the sea or attach it to a helium balloon to be carried away.

16. Do something you wouldn't normally do to celebrate your "singleness."

17. Redecorate your space. Start off by cleaning out everything and throwing away anything you don't use or need anymore. Make a few self-indulgent decorating additions like a few candles, a favorite painting or fresh flowers!

18. Visit a new city. Pick some place you've always wanted to go or some place closer to home to save money.

19. Spend time with your friends.
